Yesterday, I had three files and a button.

Today, the site is live at tadstech.github.io/MyPersonalWebsite and it actually looks like something I'd send someone.

I added a proper navigation bar, a hero section, an About section, and stats cards. Still no frameworks. No build tools. No animations. The only JavaScript is a button that cycles messages. I want to earn every line of JS instead of adding things because I can.

The corners

Then I got curious about what happens when someone actually explores.

I hid four panels at the edges of the viewport. They're invisible until you wander your mouse into a corner. Then they slide open. (Mobile excluded for now but on its way.)

Deployed to GitHub Pages so anyone can find them. The site still has empty space, but it doesn't feel unfinished. It feels like a house that rewards people who bother to peek in the corners.

Started building my personal website today. No frameworks. No animations. No fancy effects. Just three files: index.html, style.css, script.js.

Right now it doesn't do much. Black, white, neon green. A simple landing page. One JavaScript button that says hello.

Sometimes the hardest part isn't solving hard problems. It's just starting. I started today. Hope to scale this into something interesting.

The site had a solid core — hero, about, stats, hidden corners. But it was desktop-only. The corners relied on hover. On a phone you'd see nothing.

Not anymore.

Mobile optimization

Layout stacks at 768px and 480px. Grids collapse to single column. Fonts scale down. Nothing breaks.

The corners go touch-friendly

Hover doesn't exist on a phone. So corner zones now respond to taps. Tap a corner → panel slides open. Tap outside → it closes. Auto-hides after 4 seconds.

The full terminal experience

Press Ctrl + ` anywhere and a full-screen terminal slides down. Title bar with traffic-light dots. Green-on-black output. Blinking prompt. Command history with arrow keys. Tab autocomplete. 25+ commands including whoami, neofetch, matrix, cowsay, ping, theme, and more.

Shake to open (mobile)

On a phone, shake it and the terminal opens. Uses the DeviceMotion API. A deliberate shake triggers it, a normal bump won't.

Everything ships as static files. No framework. No build step. Just HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
